Free Pattern Friday: Avengers Assembled

29 Jun

I’ve suddenly realised this week that our comic geekery origins are being overtaken by the success of our Game of Thrones patterns and Totoro patterns, so with this week’s free pattern, I’m making up for that. This pattern has been lurking on our computer for a while now, and Steve, who designed it, has labelled it ‘Avengers Assembled’, so I’m going with that.

Free Pattern Friday: Totoro

22 Jun

This week’s pattern is super cute and the perfect size for a bookmark. At just over 2 inches wide and 7 inches long, what could be cuter than seeing Totoro’s face peeking out at you whenever you open your favourite book?! Stitch the pattern directly onto blue aida for an authentic Totoro look or alternatively, why not try stitching this onto a cushion or canvas bag using waste canvas or soluble canvas. If you do give this a go, remember to share a photo of your finished work on our Facebook page so we can all squee together ^_^

What We’re Working On

19 Jun

It’s been busy busy busy at C&C towers, but that doesn’t mean we don’t have some new patterns coming your way very soon, as well as some photos of finished patterns that I’m currently working on. In the pipeline at the moment is a Ghostbusters sampler, a Fantastic Four pattern and another Doctor Who themed pattern. Further down the line is another Studio Ghibli pattern featuring Jiji the cat from Kiki’s Delivery Service – well, that’s the plan anyway! Check out some pics of forthcoming patterns and remember to have a look at what we’ve got in store right now.

You’ll be seeing those two patterns in store this week! In the meantime, check out our Facebook page for all the latest news!

Free Pattern Friday: Tauntauns!

15 Jun

So, in keeping with the sci-fi theme of the patterns this week, our free pattern today is Star Wars inspired! Steve created the little marching taunstauns along the top and bottom, and the wording and aida can be any colour you like! Remember, this pattern is free for one week only!

Download the free PDF pattern here and if you like the look of this check out our other Star Wars patterns in store!

Cross Stitch Riker is Handsome *and* Wise

11 Jun

I don’t think I’m alone in saying that I have a tiny crush on Star Trek: The Next Generation’s Commander Riker. I mean, how can anyone resist such a great beard (we’re pretending pre-beard Riker never existed.) In fact, Steve, the other half of the shop double team, is also the owner of an impressive beard – take from that what you want!

Beard fetishes aside, I think we can all agree that Riker is just plain awesome. Which is why I took one of his best quotes from the series, and set about designing a little cartoon style Riker head to go along with it. Check out the pattern in store now.

Riker quote cross stitch pattern – £2.30

I think Data might be next in line for this treatment – he’s had some awesome lines too. Soon the shop will be over flowing with Star Trek patterns!

Free Pattern Friday: Black Books

8 Jun

This week’s free pattern is a sweet and innocent looking sampler with a surprisingly un-sweet message! Taken from episode 2 of season 1 of the British comedy series, Black Books, this is Bernard’s response when Manny asks him where all his money goes. I tried to find a clip to illustrate this point, but none could be found. In any case, I heartily recommend you find all three seasons of the show and watch them all, because it is hilarious!

Download the pattern here and remember, it’s for one week only!

Free Pattern Friday: Powerpuff Girls

2 Jun

Welcome to a brand new feature! Every Friday we’ll be offering a free pattern that you can’t get in our store! Some will be big, some small, but all will be awesome! And it’ll give you a chance to try out one of our patterns to see if they’re for you. But, each pattern is only available for one week, before it disappears forever (insert evil laughter here.)

This week’s free pattern is a super cute Powerpuff Girls pattern. It only uses three colours and the result is a slightly minimalist graphic that will look great framed and hung on your wall.

Oops! This pattern is no longer available! Told you they were limited edition!! Be sure to check out this weeks free pattern though, by clicking on the free pattern friday tag at the bottom of this post 🙂
